I am coming up on my anniversary date where I can quit FIOS TV and go with another provider. Prior to FIOS I was with DISH and to be perfectly frank wish I would never have left. Picture quality was virtually the same, guide had more and better information AND you could add an external hard drive to increase recording capacity. The recording time on the DVR from FIOS is underwhelming to put it mildly. Unless FIOS fixes this I will become a prior FIOS member.
FiOS is coming out with the 7232 models that will have increased storage capacity, and the ability to add an external 1tb hard drive. there isn't an official release date, but they said by the end of the year. so that is what we are waiting for now. if you can't want then try blockbuster video, they had a sale on the Tivo HD boxes for 99 bux. not a bad deal, and you would replace your DVR with verizon for the tivo with a cable card rental from verizon (3.99)

Of course going either way, he loses any on-demand capability. I just left BH because of poor signal quality in my area but at least they provided a 320GB (40hr HD) Samsung DVR, and I miss that a bit. For years, BH told me they were "working on" an external drive capability but I learned it was already available in some markets. So it's probably more of a management decision than a technical one. The higher the DVR recording capability, the less likely you will want or use premium OnDemand services, which is what the cable companies (VZ, BH, CC, TW, etc.) are counting on.

If record time is what you want, you are in the wrong place. They are never going to fix the record time issue. That story of a new DVR has been around for years. Motorola couldn't program a pager how do you expect them to get an STB right.
