FiOS TV launch yesterday in the Palm Springs Indio, CA area. However it launch without some of the Los Angeles local channels. KCAL Ch. 9 is not one on FIOS. This channel is owned by KCBS in LA and KCBS is carried on FIOS TV. KCAL is the only channel that carries Laker Basketball road games. Time warner cable does carry KCAL in the Palm Springs area. Is there anyone that be contacted to discus the channel line up for our area. Thank you.
Is there another more local CBS affiliate carried on your FiOS feed? If so, it's likely they exercised their market rights to keep the other channel off the system or KCBS didn't want to negotiate with Verizon for access fees to carry their signal. Is this a channel you can usually get "over the air"?
I would start by asking the TV station itself why they aren't on FiOS. They would know if it's a case of being blocked by another affiliate or if there is a fee dispute. Or if it's neither ... might get them to ask "why" they aren't on the system since a larger audience means more advertising dollars for them.
