To estimate how this will turn out, just consider that McCain knows even less about broadcasting, than he does about Vice Presidential candidates.

Do you really believe the content providers are going to lower their prices if we delete content. Come on now wake up McCain!

Just like Verizon is going to lower my Ultimate HD 150/65 price if I lower my TV suscription. I had been told I could have 150/65 With Extreme HD, when at first it was only available bundled with Ultimate HD. I looked at lowering my TV to Extreme and the price goes up $10. Same thing I imagine would happen if we had to pick and choose.

For those that were around when FiOS TV first launched, I believe there were a la carte options that were VERY short lived. I found along with everyone else bundles cost less, even if you did not watch all the channels.

So don't start screwing with my TV by forcing something upon us that we don't want. I say fine if they want to say it must be an option. But I see it as a far more expensive option! I will probably end up sticking with a content tier. Are the brains on The Hill going to also start telling the providers what to charge and controlling what we can and cannot buy? US SR?

its a bad idea b/c some of the content provider will not be able to survive with a ala carte format ex, food, HGTV ect will surivive long espn will but not small content providers

Provider's who can't survive without having customers FORCED to support them shouldn't survive!

The last thing I come to Verizon Forums for is a clueless political opinion, even from silver/bronze contributors.

Back on topic, why not just let the free market settle?  Uncle Sam has enough real problems without getting involved in my cable TV decisions.
