More Mexican Channels Added. Why?

Does anyone at verizon understand that people who have the spanish package are not all from mexico and that they do not need to see anymore mexican content added when 75% of your spanish package is all from that country? There are a lot of other countries that are out there that have no channels at all where their content is available to be had but verizon has made no efforts to try to add those channels even though their competition has them all. If verizon wanted to hurt their competitors and how they are able to actually still add or keep customers then adding to the spanish package different channels from different countries where you cast a wide net to add as many people from different backgrounds is how you do it. Al Jazeera English was a good move and it is actually a pretty good news channel even though channel 481 AJE along with channel 482 NHK World have no logos for them so people who are not on the forums do not know that it is there. You just added another 5 channels from mexico on channels 1670 ultra fiesta, 1690 ultra cine, 1692 ultra mexico, 1730 ultra kids, 1522 multimedios in HD when you already had multimedios in sd on channel 1511. Channel 477 which is mexicanal right now has the logo of another channel that i never heard of called "soy latin tv" so if that is another new channel that is about to be added the content sure does not reflect that as everything that is on there is still mexicanal. Whoever is making these decisions to continue to add more mexican content needs to take a geography class to try to understand that there are countries in south and central america that exist where there are 24/7 channels for those countries that verizon needs to be made aware of so i am going to do that right now. Some channels that everyone else has that can be added by verizon are peru magico, canal sur peru, tv venezuela, latino america tv, htv, ntn 24, caracol, telefe, and since you guys are now adding channels in HD in spanish then let me also suggest espn deportes in HD.

I could cancel my Directv service and pay Verizon more money if they added these. "Peru magico, canal sur Peru, TV Venezuela, Latino America TV, TV, ntn 24, caracol, telefe".

I have only been asking for Peru content ever since I signed up for TV service, when it launched, and I canceled my Spanish package on the second day. Let me see, how many years has it been since VHO4 has been online in Montgomery County Maryland? Well that is how long I have had FiOS TV! Yes my wife is from Peru, we have been married 25 years, she is a US citizen, and she still likes to watch Peru content. She grew up there! NOT EVERYONE IS FROM MEXICO and lives in Texas, Arizona, or California!Smiley Mad

This post is not intended to offend anyone, everyone is from somewhere, but Verizon be fair!

There is a whole owrld of content out there and we will continue to add more of it to our service over time. we know we cannot always satisfy everyone with what we add and when it becomes available, but we do try our best. Thanks for your feedback on how we are doing so far.

I don't know too much about the International offerings of VZ, but I do know that there is a literal universe of entertainment options available, and that to expect one provider to be all things and present all channels everywhere might be unrealistic. That is why I have supplemented my VZ equipment with a ROKU device capable of 1080p and SS 5.1. ROKU partners with many entertainment outlets and quite a few have International programming. Again, I emphasize my personal usage as a supplement whereas others may see such devices as an excuse to "cut the chord". That is a personal business decision. Here is a link to the ROKU channel selections. I am not affiliated with ROKU - I just like it as a piece of equipment. This is just a consideration.

Ruku does not have channels I need. but kudos for suggestion anyway.

Now if I could only put up a C-Band dish. My HOA would not like that.

Verizon's reluctance to add content from other countries that are from south and central america is costing them a lot of potential customers as i have said to them before. It was announced today that verizon believes that they will be adding another million customers before the year is over to bring the total of fios tv customers to over five million. If they were to actually add the content that i had previously mentioned specifically the channels from peru then that number would increase exponentially especially in the state that i am in which is the state that has the most fios tv customers in the country. It is a state that has millions of people from peru in it that want programming from their home country on 24/7 which is what peru magico and canal sur peru provide people with. It is a state with millions of potential fios customers but since verizon does not have those channels they go with either time warner, cablevision, comcast or direct tv. Those options are not available to me but it is to a lot of those millions of people who would gladly switch over to verizon fios which is also in their area if verizon were to add those two channels. It is a state that has its own peruvian council where there are several parades a year, soccer tournaments and then there are the religious festivals that they have too. When there are soccer games on tv they either stay at home to watch those games there or they go out to a local bar or restaurant to gather with strangers where they watch peru magico which has a lot of soccer games on it but it also has news shows and other programs to watch on there. It really says a lot about how much people love a channel like peru magico when some of them have the channel in their home to watch the soccer games but would  pay what it costs to go to a bar to watch it with other people who also share similar interests. Canal sur peru is a channel that time warner, cablevision, comcast and direct tv all have where the first three companies that i mentioned all have canal sur too which is what verizon has but they do not have sur peru. The other channels that i mentioned like latino america tv or htv (where the h stands for hispanic) would be welcome additions along with the other ones i mentioned but the peru content is a major factor for a lot of those millions of potential customers who would like to become fios customers but since verizon does not have 24/7 content from peru for them to watch they go elsewhere for their service. The cost of what those two peruvian channels would be for verizon would not mean much after they were to see the enormous increase in their profits after they have added all of those customers that have other companies for their services where the viewership for those channels would be pretty high which is a lot more than you can say about  those infomercial channels and religious channels that verizon continues to add to the lineup.

Our comments fall on deaf ears. No offence meant towards the hearing impaired. I know Verizon hears but just don't listen. Just like when I ignore my wife. When Sur Peru was first released from their exclusive contract with Directv, I put Verizon directly in touch with the US provider in Florida. BEFORE ANYONE HAD PICKED IT UP! I was keeping track and was incontact with the company. I was blown off by Verizon

Perhaps one day.

I even located some Peruvian channels that are rebroadcast on C-Band because of the mountainous terrain in Peru and the need for locals to receive content from Lima. No Reply. I don't believe other providers have even considered that for the international coverage. These are only but a few channels that use low bandwidth SD feeds. How hard could it be. I know there is room enough for that. Who is stopping this the FCC? I have even heard of a few that wanted Canadian channels, what is stopping that? Hint hint for the person that may read this post.

Sure wish I had the funding. I could set up a business calling it TV Internationale, and do steaming IP feeds from all over the world. Ruku has a few channels, but someone needs to dedicate a business to international feeds. Anyone know of a company interested? Or one that does this and would like to expand?

I have been in touch with canal sur too where i spoke to their top people in their marketing department, publicists and sales people where i even got a hold of the ceo of that company where at the time i was trying to get them to send out their most up to date schedules regarding canal sur because it did not match at all what was playing on there. No provider had the correct schedule so after i spoke to a woman in miami i think her name was nuria she got a hold of the people who were supposed to make sure that the schedule was up to date so that all the companies who have canal sur had the correct grid to match the content that was playing. Right after that every single provider who has canal sur and online guide companies like tv guide were then sent the correct data after i had gotten a hold of the people at canal sur. After having spoken to her and another person named jen carlos i believe that was his name they both had told me that verizon was offered both canal sur and canal sur peru but verizon declined the peru channel a while back simply because they did not want to pay for an all peru channel just like they did not want to pay for an all venezuela channel like tv venezuela which is also owned by canal sur. Verizon figured that there are a few programs from peru on canal sur and there are a few programs from venezuela on canal sur where that would be enough for people who wanted peru programming and venezuelan programming plus they did not have to pay for two additional channels like sur peru or tv venezuela. Verizon can add it anytime i was told by their ceo. All verizon has to do is contact them and canal sur would love to provide them with sur peru. Canal sur also has programs from argentina, colombia, chile and recently they started adding content from mexico on a channel that is supposed to be only about programs from south america. Now a south american channel that verizon offers which is canal sur is becoming a little like the over 75% of everything else that verizon has in their spanish package and it ended up taking the place of a show that was from peru. If you go to the canal sur website and click on "horarios" which means schedules you will see the breakdown of the shows with what countries they are from where on sundays at 7pm they have a 2 hour show that is all about mexican boxing where canal sur is going to be adding more mexican content in the near future at the expense of the peruvian programming. Canal sur also owns another channel called mexico tv where they could put those programs on there but they are choosing to add it to canal sur instead of tv mexico. That mexican boxing show does not appear on the mexico tv schedule but it should and that program should be on the channel. As i mentioned before there are shows on verizon's canal sur channel 1549 that are from colombia, argentina, and chile but verizon already has tv colombia, tv chile, and at least three channels from argentina. Add an all peruvian channel!Robot Mad

Same information I found. I guess they don't care. For example, there have been hundreds of requests for BBC America HD and Verizon just seems all tapped out. Too busy paying lawyers for being sued in Virginia Courts for stealing technology for their TV boxes. At least that is what the Court has ruled, and the owner of the technology has proven. When I had Verizon fiber installed at the start, it was WOW! Verizon seemed to have room for everything. No limits. I need to find the Publication I received with my First TV subscription. I would probably laugh at the claims made. I only had a year left on my contact and wanted Extreme with 35/35 because it was not available with Extreme before. The Lady lied, like most sales people do, and I was told it would nor cause my contract terms to change. Now I look and find it says 4/2014. How **bleep** I am. I could have dropped phone, and TV next year, because I have 4 ATT wireless phones, and a directv dish I must still keep because Verizon will not carry the content my wife wants. Sucker born every day. How do you prove you were lied to? Can't!Smiley Mad I have never been this **bleep** at Verizon until I found out that the sales **bleep** Cat Tonguelied to me when I specifically asked if my contract would be change or extended and she said no! I have allways been a big supporter of Verizon FiOS and the Technology. But it is getting old fast. I bet this opinion does not make many friends!Robot Mad

From what i have been able to find out although i can not confirm this because i would need more people to confirm it for me canal sur peru is on the list of channels to be added at some point but i have no idea where it is on that list since it always changes. The BBC HD thing goes back years from what i have seen on here but as far as the sur peru or peru magico channels being added one of those is a reality but there is no timetable. The frustrating part about it is that while content continues to be added from the same country (mexico) it is all basically the same. The news channels are primarily all about the cartels killing people. The soap opera channels are pretty much the same. The music channels are essentially the same music videos over and over again while the movie channels from that country all feature movies from the black and white era while the kids channels are no different than disney or any of the other kids channels that are in spanish like boomerang espanol. If you're having problems with a contract there are ways to go about trying to get out of it but you say that you have both fios tv and direct tv? That must be a pretty high bill that you have to pay per month to both companies. You can drop the fios side of the triple play with verizon and stick with direct tv for your tv only so that it could lower you monthly bill as i know people who have done that and verizon has no issues with people doing that so long as you keep your phone and internet with them. Now you might end up losing some movie packages, sports, and music channels if you were to drop fios tv. Fios is better than the rest when it comes to picture and they even offer your more than the rest for what you are paying. Cable companies and satellite companies do not offer you as many movie channels as verizon does in their movie packages with channels like cinemax and showtime. Verizon has 16Cat MadCat Mad showtime channels while the rest only have half that much and the price is almost the same. To actually have the enitre spanish package along with their package in english direct tv drops channels from their lineup like the BBC, fox movie channel, and some other channels like the MLB network. If you want to have the entire spanish package along with their premier pakage you have to pay them at least another $25 for what amounts to just a few channels that were dropped to include the spanish channels. One of the main reasons that a lot of cable companies survive and direct tv is still having some success is because of their spanish packages where direct tv also has the NFL ticket which they are now giving away for free if you sign up with them because they too are losing customers. If verizon were to add some of the spanish channels that i mentioned like peru magico, canal sur peru, latino america tv, ntn24 they could significantly do a lot of damage to their rival's bottom lines where a lot of people i have spoken to what is in the spanish package is a key factor as to whether they will sign up with verizon or not. Everyone has movie packages, news channels, music channels but not everyone has the same spanish package where if someone is looking for a spanish package that is mostly from mexico then verizon is the company for them. If they want more diversity which would include channels from peru and venezuela they then go with direct tv.
