More Sports HD Programming

Xfinity, AT&T, Dish and DirecTV all offer CBS Sports Network in HD... Fios does not...

Not to mention the numerous regional channel's national feeds that often show live sporting events  like SNY, Longhorn Network, and NESN that are not offered in HD. While YES National, which offers very little live sports is only avalible in HD. These regional channels on FIOS is a big reason I switched from Xfinity with the hopes they would soon be avalible in HD. But now two years into my switch, I can't help but wonder if I should just go to Dish or DirecTV, like I was planning in the first place! Fios has not added a single HD channel worth anything to me since I switched, while Xfinity, Dish, AT&T, and DirecTV all have added a bunch of HD channels I would get a lot of use out of... If these issues are not changed by football season, I will seriously consider changing to DirecTV. I'm sick of watching my Navy games in SD on CBS Sports Network!

Not likely to happen. Univision deportes and espn deportes are on the way but none of those hd sports channels that a lot of people are asking for unless you count the pac 12 network which they will do but pac 12 fans are going to miss some more games whether they like it or not. If you want to talk about hd programming in general verizon has only added a total of 2 hd channels this year and they are bein sport usa and bein sport espanol which were added back in march. With almost two thirds of the year over that is just pathetic. They are going to try to make up for it in the next few months but it will be too little too late. No wonder at&t has caught up to verizon in the number of tv subscribers that they have because at&t is giving their customers what they are asking for with the exception of bein sport. They added pac 12 and the sec network along with a bunch of other channels which made them go from 4.5 million to tie verizon with 5 million for who is the number 5 tv provider in the country. I do expect verizon to add the dodgers network for people in california along with some other sports channels that are primarily for california customers where the cost of those channels will be passed off to the tv customers whether they live in those areas or not. There is a law i believe that prevents them from raising the cost of programming so soon because they just did it in march. They must wait at least a year so sometime after march next year you can expect a big price increase to pay for the dodgers network among those other channels. At some point though the cost of sports programming is going to drive tv providers insane and make them draw a line in the sand where they will flat out refuse to carry certain sports channels whether they are in hd or not. I believe that gol tv is the first of those channels where almost all tv providers have dropped it or are about to drop it. The petitions that were started a year ago after gol tv was dropped by the customers of communications broadcast (comcast) and dish network have gone nowhere and gol tv has yet to reappear on those tv providers' guides. At some point certain groups of sports fans will be flat out denied the content that they want to watch and the only way that they could watch it will be to stream it.
