I just got FIOS a few weeks ago and the remote I was given only controls the TV and STB. Great, except I have a home theater setup with a receiver. I wasn't home when it was installed, so I couldn't ask this question: can I get a Verizon remote that will at least allow me to control the volume of my receiver so I don't need two remotes to watch TV? My current remote is the P265v2 and my box is the CHS 435HDC DVR.
What worked for me was to march right into a Verizon store, and explain to them why I NEEDED 4 button. They usually have plenty from returns. They were more than gracious about it. I got the feeling it was a regular occurance lately.
When I got Verizon Fios installed back in April of '08 all four of my box's came with the 4 button programable remote. This way you can control the stb, tv, dvd, and surround sound system. Went to pick up a replacement and they also pawned off one of these "new" low tech 2 button remote controllers. Why are they downgrading when all they talk about is things getting better? They must be taking a cheap way out because the 4 button ones probably cost more. Ridiculous if that is the case considering the prices they charge.
Little tip for verizon, always IMPROVE hardware and software and equipment, don't put out something that does less now, when we used to have something that did more. Unacceptable in my opinion.
