MSG announced yesterday that the knick games that they will have on their networks will have a secondary audio in spanish where they announced the names of the broadcast team that will be doing the games in spanish. In a press release with the headline MSG launches los knicks en espanol what was revealed in that press release is that Cablevision, RCN, Direct Tv and Verizon Fios will have that secondary audio for people to watch as MSG stated in their press release that they are seeking to add another five million viewers with that new audio which will have graphics on the screen in spanish. MSG viewership is up 71% and they are seeking to increase that even more now that the knicks are playing their best basketball in about 10 years. In the meantime Time Warner customers in new york and new jersey have been missing out on the games since MSG pulled all of their channels off of Time Warner on january 1 which has put Time Warner customers in a position where they are all looking for new companies to provide them with their tv service because of the one and a half months that they have been without the MSG channels. Now as far as the MSG espanol audio thing is concerned i am not sure if this is jim dolan's way of tryng to deny Verizon Fios some more customers that would like that audio to be there or if this is part of a bigger issue with the FIOS network because channel 363 encore espanol has had a similar problem for a while now. 363 is supposed to be like HBO Latino channels 412, 413 SD and 912,913 HD where those channels have the names of the movies and programs in spanish along with the descriptions plus the audio is in spanish. Encore espanol 363 has the names of the movies in spanish along with the descriptions but the audio that should always be in spanish is in english. Whatever the reason is Verizon needs to look into this matter because if jim dolan is trying to deny Verizon Fios customers of something that should be there then he may be in violation of a ruling where he was told by a judge that he had to offer the MSG package in HD to Verizon and At&t even though he did not want to. MSG PLUS 2 HD has yet to be added which is weird but at some point i am hoping that it will finally happen.

Nevermind this issue that i brought up because i have found the solution to it. When there is a knicks game on MSG in english that very same game will be broadcast in spanish on MSG 2 where you do not need to change the language on there because the game will be entirely in spanish along with the graphics all being in spanish on MSG 2. It does not matter if you are watching the channel in SD or HD because MSG will have everything in spanish. There is still though an issue with channel 363 encore espanol which should always be in spanish but that is a fios network issue not a channel issue because the spanish audio used to always be available in the past but now it is not.

That explains why MSG2 HD was added so quickly, and even before MSG+2 HD which has more live games.
I certainly hope that MSG2 HD wasn't added just to have some games carried in Spanish.
Using the alternate audio on MSG HD would be enough.
