What gives? Is this a programming error? Why is Seinfeld coming on at 1pm today? The biggest game in the NFL (Giants vs Saints) is being broadcasted by Fox, but isn't being carried in my area!!! I called Verizon but I've been on hold forever. Live Chat isn't available, either. I guess they're hiding from us NFL fans during this tragic oversight!!!

This is ridiculous. Spending a fortune every month on FIOS, phone, cell, TV is not enough, now they're forcing you to sign up for the "Red Zone". Everytime I turn around Verizon is nailing me for another unexpected charge. Everytime there's any question, I can be sure I'll end up getting charged more, not less.

It is complete **bleep** that the Giants are nowhere to be seen on FIOS. Biggest game of the week by far, and someone decides not to show it? You have got to be kidding me.

I was on the phone for over an hour trying to get an explanation. I'm pretty sure it's NFL rules, but I don't see why our local FOX station (WTTG) can't work something out. My neighbor has Cox and he is also showing Seinfeld and The Office. And worst of all, the Saints are stomping the Giants right now and I can't see it!!!!!! OH YEAH, I asked for a preview of the RedZone. Denied. Verizon left me hanging.

It is not a FOX double header weekend. So, at least in areas with local teams on at 4 PM, no 1 o'clock game. Other areas it is up to your local affiliate and the FOX network as to what they deem the "national" coverage.
NFL rules, nothing to do with FiOS. Verizon can't put alternate programming in place of the local affiliates broadcast.

I know it's frustrating, but Verizon can't just give you the Red Zone channel for the day just because your local station isn't showing a game. I get so mad at FOX during baseball season for taking games away from MASN, then not showing them locally. There's just nothing we can do about it but complain to the networks and leagues. I don't think the local stations can even choose which games they show.

All of your NFL on FOX/CBS questions can be found here ...
They explain what games are shown where and why.
I'm not sure if the affiliate can't show the game or if it's the network or the NFL who are being stubborn, but this I do know: It's not Verizon's fault. When it comes to Verizon running OTA channels VZ is completely fault free and is giving you what your OTAs are putting out.
I've been hard on Verizon in the past (for sound reasons, haha inside joke) but this is definitely a blame pie to be divided among the NFL, the networks and your local station.

It's rather sad/pathetic that your first reaction is, IT'S VERIZON'S FAULT. Sorry, it is not, it the the nfl rule. If you are in the Philly viewing area, since the Eagles game was at 4 there was NO 1 pm game (it was not Fox's turn for a double header, nfl/tv rules).
Next time do a little more digging before autpomatically assuming Verizon screwed up. Verizon does NOT control the programming content of the indiviudal channels.
