QIP7100 2 Can't return to live TV after viewing DVR content

I recently discovered that the QIP7100 2 STB in our master bedroom cannot return to live TV properly after viewing recorded materials off the DVR downstairs. The display indicates it's set to the channel, but the screen goes blank and there is no sound. Connectivity is component/optical for video/audio respectively to an older Sharp Aquos system that doesn't support HDMI. The only way to get back to live TV is to reset/reboot the STB via power cycle. I did the recommended steps to reset from the "robo-technician" with no success. Any ideas/suggestions?
