Yesterday I called tech support after I lost Internet access and was advised to hard-reset my router, which I did. Now my remote DVR service has stopped working. I suspect I lost whatever rules were set up in my router to allow it. I tried disabling and re-enabling the service in my DVR. Will that eventually add the correct rules in my router? If not, could someone point me to step by step instructions for adding the port forwarding rules for my 2 DVRs? I did see the instructions for changing to a static IP address and I did that.
Or am I on the wrong track here entirely?
Thanks!
Assuming you are using the Verizon provided Actiontech or Westel Broadband Home Router, you should not need to do anything. The service should fix itself eventually (within a day) but if you call in, one of our agents will be able to run a "Remote DVR Tool" and have this resolved quicker.
One other thing you can try.
Unplug the dvr from power
Power cycle the router
Once the router comes back up, then plug the DVR back in
When the DVR boots back up, supposedly the rules for the remote dvr will be reloaded into the router. Sounds strange but I've been told it works.
It started working, thanks.
