Hello,
I recently decided to upgrade my standard STB to an HD STB. I received the new HD box today. My question is, how do I go about returning the standard box it is replacing? Do I simply put it in the box the HD STB came in and return it or do I need to get an RA tag?
When I click on Add/Remove equipment on My Verizon, it only seems to give you the option to ADD new items (which is how I got my new HD box...) but not to remove existing equipment.
A search of the help sections proved fruitless.
Any advice?

In theory there are 3 ways to return equipment:
1). Take it to any UPS Store and tell them it is a Verizon return. They are supposed to pack it up and ship it for you.
Having said that, I have had a UPS store refuse to do so. That's apparently a violation of the UPS Verizon contract, but it seems neither Verizon or UPS are prepared to do anything about it.
Make sure you get a receipt from the store to show that you handed the equipment over, and gave you a UPS tracking number.
2). Call Verizon and ask them to send you a return label. You do the packing, and put the label on the box, hand it to any UPS driver you can find, or take it any UPS Store, or authorized shipping center. It is prepaid, and the label should also include a return authorization label. Make sure you write down the tracking number, if there is ever a question about having returned it, the UPS proof of delivery for the package resolves the issue.
3). In rare cases, a Verizon Truck can pick it up.
4). Make sure you return the STB and a remote (take the batteries out) if they sent you one. I found it easier to keep the remote that was already programmed for my non-STB devices, so I returned the remote control they sent out with the replacement equipment.

This is great information... I live in Northern Virginia and tried to return it to Dulles Town Center. They said I had to go to Wheaton MD. Are there any locations in Northern Virginia to return it to?
Thank you,
Mike

Carlos,
If you want to avoid any problems, there are two ways of doing this.
1. You can call CS to have shipping labels sent to you. (if you are desperate)
2. You can take the boxes to a local UPS store (must be a real UPS store, not a Mail Boxes Etc or other 3rd party) and tell person at the counter that they are "Verizon Corporate account returns". The UPS store has procedures to handle this as they have a corporate acct with Verizon for this exact process
If you do go the UPS route, make sure that you hang onto the UPS tracking number as this is your receipt.
If you want to open a can of worms and want to fight Verizon, get headaches and get possible big bills until it gets fixed. You can always give them to a Verizon Fios install tech that you see in the neighborhood or take the box to a Verizon store. But I dont recommend these unless your a masochist.

Look for the closest Verizon store, and get a receipt. They come off of the account the moment it is entered into the system as returned. Fastest way.
I looked and found no Verizon Retail Stores in PA. Many wireless stores, but that will not do. As posted the UPS route is best, as long as you are on the sending and not receiving end. Track the package and bug billing once they get the boxes.
