SD to HD stretch function has ceased working properly in the last few days. (Pittsburgh)

With set top boxes and digital adapters since a day or so ago, the stretch function no longer fills a 16 x 9 high definition screen when tuned to most standard definition channels. The only exception is the weather channel 49 and some of the local stations like 2 and 4. Most of the other "standard definition" channels (which are all those on a digital adapter --and-- under 500 on the set top box) are no longer stretched to fill the screen. They now have black bars on the top and bottom.

I called tech support and they could not resolve it. I asked if the software side checks not breaking things like this before pushing upgrades and was not allowed to speak to them. Tech Support said he could send then a note. However, I as a customer or even Tech Support were not allowed to speak to the software side.

Has anyone else noticed this recent failure of the stretch function and complained?

Perhaps more calls would get some kind of better attention by the software side. I'm beginng to wonder if they even bother to test their upgrades in advance or care about things like the SD to HD stretch function getting broken!!

What guide/software version are you on? Do you have the old Legacy boxes or Quantum? Both have different software versions at the moment.

Remember that during the daytime a lot of broadcasters to not broadcast in widescreen. Also the digital adapters do not have a stretch function.

Legacy boxes both set top and digital adapters. The issue is that the stretch function (SD to HD)  worked fine until a few days ago on all boxes and now doesn't work properly on any of them which I'm sure is due to the latest upgrade pushed through the system ...and... of course us peon customers and even Tech Service can't even talk to the software folks who keep pushing out these upgrades breaking things like this (apparently without even fully testing them)!
