My set top box keeps freezing and the only solution is to unplug and replug it in. The power button remains unresopnsive as it remains frozen and it does not broadcast any channels.
This is extremely inconvenient as the entertainment center needs to be shuffled around to get to the power chord.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this, or moreover, how to replace it with a box that does not continually freeze up (occurs at least once a week)
You either have a bad STB or the signal to the box is no good. If you have another Verizon STB in another room try swapping them to see if it is the box. If it is the box you need to call Verizon to send a tech out or get one drop shipped. You can also go to a Verizon store and pick one up.
This is one of many "known" issues the currently down sizing and outsourcing Verizon has known about for a VERY LONG time.
Saddly, There are no known fixes to this or many issues with FiOS and the service, since the big software update last year, that attempted to bring the on screen selections semi up to date, has gotten Noticeably worse.
Internet outages, STB freeze / Lock ups, The Youtube Widget is still, yearls later a complete mess. Audio going in and out etc...
The Only thing you can do is keep callign and demanding technicians come out. It wont fix anything, but they will slowy replace every part of they system in your house. they will try and you to upgrade to costly Wifi extenders or boosters or the new boxes etc. Don;t waste your time or $. The issues are all software and the lack of qualified, trained techs to fix them.
Hopefully and Eventually after enough of these costly service calls, Verizon will get around to fixing, what was once a sublime system.
Unfortunately, like Everything in the USA. FiOS and Verizon have sufffered from years of neglect and the Wall Street mentality that emphasizes Profits above all else.
Good Luck
