Set up a Harmony remote for the Arris boxes and all commands work except skip backwards 10 seconds.
That option still shows up in the FIOS settings menu, along with skip forward 30 seconds. Skip forward works, but skip backwards doesn’t.
Any suggestions?
Does the skip back button work on the FiOS remote? Also what boxes do you have VMS1100 or VMS4100?
I also see this issue on an Arris VMS4100. Everything else works great.
Sadly, I can't get the Harmony to learn this command because the FiOS remote isn't talking IR. 😕
Any chance somebody knows the IR codes for SkipBack? Maybe there's a manual way to get it into the Harmony remote.
edit: ...the trick turns out to be to tell the Harmony to send DirectionLeft command when the SkipBack button is pressed. Works great!
You figured it out. The new boxes don't respond to the "skip back" IR code. They use the left button on the directional pad for "skip back."
You'll run into the same issue if you use the old Verizon IR remotes, except you can't reprogram their "skip" button.
Also, the guide doesn't respond to "page up" or "page down". Use "channel up" and "channel down" instead.
Most of the other codes that the old IR remote sent still work, even though the new remote doesn't have them. Handy for the "dvr" or "closed caption" functions, if you like to get to them without using menus or the voice control.
Enjoy.
