So going thru the guide I ALWAYS have to change it to subscribed channels, but more importantly, why do some channels we're NOT subscribed to stay in that list? Seems as though that should be fixed, otherwise why would they have a "subscribed" channel list option?
Go to Menu-Settings-Television-Last Viewed Guide State.
Set that to enabled.

Verizon showing non subscribed channels in the subscribed channels guide has been going on for a long, long time now.
Why they can't fix it is beyond me. I don't know if it's because of channel changes, lack of attention to the issue or what.
The interesting thing is and I don't know if you have the same issue, but on my VMS if I use the subscribed channel guide a bunch of channels I'm subscribed to disapear. This is one bug I wish since I'm stuck having to use the full guide or favs.

Minor correction: it is actually Menu ==> Settings ==> System ==> Television ==> Last Viewed Guide State

What package are you subscribed to, and can you give a few examples of channels in the subscribed list that you see that you are not subscribed to? I never use subscribed, it has far too many channels in that list that I have no interest in, but I just tried using subscribed and off the top I didn't see any channels there that should not be there.
What I would suggest you do is go into the Menu to the Favorites area, choose Subscribed to initially populate your Favorites list, then remove the channels that should not be there or that you don't watch, and then save that list and use it all the time.

Channel 629 is the first one that comes to mind. Preferred HD is the actual package name.... If i don't get the channel and are using the subscribed only channel list, it shouldn't be there. Frustrating when I see a show I'd like to watch then find out we don't get the channel.

OK, that channel certainly should not be in the Preferred subscribed set of channels, according to the channel lineup that I see at My Verizon. I have the Extreme package so I do have that channel. My guess is that the error in the subscribed function for that channel (and others? probably...) has never actually been reported via a mechanism that gets the info to the developers who can fix the problem.
Unfortunately Verizon doesn't seem to really provide a direct path to report stuff that is broken. If you call and report it, I suspect that a) the rep will not even have a clue what you are talking about, and b) that whatever the rep records will go into some database where it will never be seen again. And when you come here you are really talking to other customers; there are some Verizon folks here, but they don't seem to really be in the business of reporting bugs.
My suggestion is to go to dslreports.com, if you don't already have a free membership sign up, then go to the Verizon Direct forum there and report the specific problem. There are Verizon employees there that really do help customers get problems fixed. I really don't understand why Verizon won't provide the same service here, but they won't.
Good luck.

That was helpful, Thanks for the tip. Wish they would actually watch these forums and react accordingly 😞
I'll echo your complaint. I've got proffered HD and i'd guess a dozen channels that aren't part of the tier show up in the guide when filtered to subscribed channels only.
Bio, Palladian & fuse are some easy ones that come to mind.
It makes no sense to have a filter that doesn't filter.
