After speaking with Verizon representatives concerning beIN sports (you can read about that in the post entitled, "Anyone else get a message that beIN sports is part of the "Sports Pass" tier?), I learned more about this new tier. It is also posted on Verizon's website as well. I am surprised Verizon hasn't advertised this more on its Forums (if they have, I missed it), since so many people were clamoring for beIN Sports without having to upgrade to the Ultimate Tier. Here are the channels available for the Sports Pass, which is an add-on (just like HBO) for $9.99 a month. It will give people back ESPN Classic without having to upgrade to Ultimate.
The question is, is this worth the price given the channels being offered? Or are you better off upgrading to Ultimate for another $5-$10 a month to get these channels and the extra channels offered with Ultimate?
I think it also includes the three Fox College Sports channels. If it only costs $10 a month to upgrade to Ultimate, that would be the best deal. An upgraded bundle would probably also include faster internet, at least that's my experience.
Not sure about the FCS channels. I got the list from Verizon's website.
In my area (I don't know if it is the same across the country), it would be an extra $10 for Sports Pass or an extra $20 for Ultimate. So the decision would be whether the extra $10 for Ultimate, or $120 a year, is worth it.
My main reason for considering Sports Pass is to get beIN Sports. If Ultimate also had beIN Sports Espanol, then it may be worth it for the extra money. With beIn being the only channel I am looking for, the extra $10 may be worth it, but not the extra $20.
Still not sure why Verizon doesn't just offer a comprehensive sports tier like other companies do. Other companies offer a lot more sports channels for similar prices, instead of spreading sports channels throughout its tiers (like Verizon does).
The new Sports Pass is worth it for me for BeIn alone, plus the rest of the channles in it are worthless anyway. With Verizon dropping GOL TV in May (so I have been told) and with Fox switching Fox Soccer to a second FX channel, Bein will be the only soccer channel out there until NBCSports Channel broadcasts EPL in the Fall.
I have Extreme package plus the Fully Loaded Entertainment pack, so a switch to Ultimate will cost be more than $20 because HBO and Starz are not included in Ultimate and I would have to pay for those seperately.
Cripes, the $10 a month is worth it just so I can watch the remaining three US Men's soccer teams road World Cup Qualifiers than Bein has the rights too. instead of watching them on some fly by night web site with a lousy stream and tons of popup ads.
Just added the Sports Pass...can see all the channels but BeIN...**bleep**? It still shows as not subscribed. Ran troubleshoot but still not active. Wonder if BeIN is going to be added to the package at a later date or if the boards are wrong and it's not included?
The list of channels in the Sports Pass is taken straight from Verizon's website. Check it out for yourself:
Go to Services
Go to Fios TV
Select Premium Channels
Click on Sports
Scroll to the bottom and select Sports Pass
Click on See available channels
On my screen beIN is listed as the first channel.
I would call customer service and see what the issue is.
Weird, so I posted last week that I added the Sports pass package but could not see Bein or Longhorn network, but could see others like WFN,, Outdoor channel, etc. Well still no Bein showing up, so just logged into my account and I see the Sports Pass never got added to my account. How the heck did that happen I wonder...oh yeah, Verizion and their website that doesn't work half the time.
