The sore point is that I am paying $24.00 a month for equipment rental on two settop boxes. I have paid this for 4 years now. Meaning that I have paid rental costs of about $1200 for these two things.
Verizon needs to sell these items instead of screwing the customers.
Thanks,
Tired

You could get cablecards or TiVo and no more rentals.
you could drop tv and just get a streaming service like DirectTVNOW or Sling or PSVue and save a ton of money on equipment rentals, taxes, surcharges, sports fees, and for tv itself. Something to ponder.
No cable provider sells their boxes.
Rental covers not only the hardware costs, but software development and support.
Probably a small profit as well.
