Transfer M-Card from DVR to Tivo?

I'm thinking of getting a Tivo Premiere to replace my HD DVR from Verizon. I noticed that my DVR (Motorola QIP7216) has an M-Card in it, so I was wondering, is it possible to simply: 1) Take out that M-Card from the DVR and put it in the Tivo 2) Return the DVR (minus M-Card) to Verizon once I've watched what's recorded on it 3) Only be charged the $3.99/mo. for the M-Card once the DVR is returned? Seems pointless to have a technician deliver an M-Card if I've already got one.

unfortunately no that isn't doable, since the m-card needs to be paired to the hardware it's plugged into. simply taking it out of one and putting it in the other won't work, unless verizon will pair it to your Tivo, which I have not heard of them ever doing.
you'll probably need that free truck roll sadly.

I also noticed there is a cover over the M-Card with a tamper resistant screw. I would not tamper with it. Order a cablecard and when it is brought out and working, then you can get rid of your existing box.
