Uh Oh. New Guide Data Problem.

The brand new guide data provider does not have the specific dates of when a show was first aired or what is the latest episode so when you set up a series recording the dvr will not record more than that 1 episode because of the air dates not being listed as the latest ones. So what that means is that your series recordings depending on what programs they may be will be useless now. On some shows this is not an issue. From what i understand how this works verizon is given all of the information that tribune media services has and then it is up to verizon to upload the info to the set top boxes so perhaps verizon is not updating it with the specifics of those episodes for those programs. On the zap 2 it website it is very specific about what episode and air date it is but not on the fios guide. It is still too early to tell if it will remain as is or if more changes are on the way, but if this is how it is going to be from now on then people's series recordings are going to get messed up big time. The guide data will never be perfect but this is something that has to be addressed soon before a lot of people start to notice it. There are things that have improved like on hln on the weekends there was a listing for a program called forensic files on saturday from 3pm-11pm when in fact it is mystery detectives which is now listed correctly as mystery detectives but the series recordings issue has to be fixed asap.

As I said when you first predicted this way back when, if the new guide data messes everything up I'm taking your place complaining about it. Because FYI was never a problem for me on the channels I view. Now here come the switching headaches. Wonderful.

Apparently this is related to my post about Nascar races as well. See my post about Nascar Races name change in the guide. All Nascar races now show up on all channels as Nascar racing, regardless of which series it is or even if it is qualifying or practice. No one at Verizon seems to understand. You are right tho, it is impossible to set up a series recording now.
