I am looking to order tonight's World Cup qualifying soccer game on PPV and cannot find any way to do so on Verizon FIOS. One would think that with the thousands of channels FIOS seems to have available, it would be a no-brainer to cover this game and offer it on PPV but I cannot seem to find it. I switched from Comcast last year and am regretting this right now, people I know with Comcast have informed me that the game is available for them to order. What is going on here?
Looks like we are hosed. It's on PPV via IN DEMAND on DirecTv, Comcast, etc. But Verizon FIOS doesn't have IN DEMAND (It's partially owned by Comcast).
It's either find a bar showing it or take a chance on UStream.
The game is being broadcast live tonight at 10pm where it is available on demand for people who have comcast, cablevision, time warner, cox cable, charter, frontier, direct tv, dish netowrk but not for verizon customers. The USSF (United States Soccer Federation) came out and slammed the fact that the soccer games are only available on demand while also criticizing tv providers who will not even offer it on demand (verizon) to their customers. There will be a broadcast of the game several days after it was aired live for the rest of the world to see as it is with most games with verizon since you can rarely see them live on fios tv. On june 14 at 10pm on channel 1520 espn deportes they will broadcast it again and on june 16 at 10pm they will broadcast the game on channel 1703 centro america tv. The lack of soccer (or futbol as it is known to everyone in the world outside of america) is a big problem for verizon and the fact that they have yet to make available in hd certain channels that carry those games like espn deportes, gol tv, or fox deporte is also a big problem too. You will of course have to have the spanish package to watch the rebroadcast of the game on those channels.
Hey, let's enjoy Canada vs Honduras available on Fios PPV at 7PM. "Nice work" Verizon. Another disappointment!
If you go to channel 1001 in the guide, it is In Demand. They are only carrying a boxing match - not the US vs.. Guatemala match. This is a big disappointment. As much as I would hate to spend $29.99 to watch it, I am willing to do that. If only to show that there is a lot of interest in soccer. It is amazing that FiOS has InDemand but they are showing Canada and not the US. I may try the online stream.

Channel 1001 does look like In Demand. I also think that MLS Direct Kick is provided by In Demand. It looks more like Verizon chose to not allocate bandwidth to this match.
I very reluctantly participate in on-line forums, but Verizon's AMAZINGLY POOR soccer offerings are worth the time. I HOPE THE PROGRAMMING STAFF IS PAYING ATTENTION. WE WANT MORE SOCCER. SOCCER IS THE MOST POPULAR SPORT IN THE WORLD. HOW VERIZON CANNOT RECOGNIZE THE NEED TO PROVIDE MORE SOCCER CONTENT IS BEYOND ME. I AM OFFICIALLY A FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER THAT WILL CHANGE INTERNET PROVIDERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ALL BECAUSE OF SOCCER.
