Many people have found success by going to a local store and physically swapping DVR units. If you have a store nearby, it is far and away the best way to do business.
I went to the store and they said you have to call. I called (7 times), finally was told to use internet, and like everyone else, it does not work.
This confirms my suspicions from my own experience trying to upgrade my {word filter avoidance} DVRs...Verizon is doing exactly what bad banks and credit card companies do...make it so hard to achieve what you need, you give up. Then they don't have to spend money or effort on us lowly existing customers.
I do not believe Verizon even wants to allow DVR upgrades unless it's a multi-room that will cost yet more of your hard earned $$.
Boooooo Verizon.
I tried online, and called many many times...even had a rep "place the order for me" for my "New" DVRs after a lengthy conversation about wanting CURRENT technology in my box...when I called BEFORE driving to the store (as I am accustomed to garbage info from Verizon now) the store told me they don't even HAVE anything other than what I already have and they are re-furbs anyway so I can't even get "new" OLD technology!!!
PS - Apparently the several newer model DVRs I can find online are just for show...in reality my box is the only kind they carry whether u call, order online, or go to store, unless it's multi-room which of course they charge much more $ for.
Bait and switch at it's finest.
