I recently installed a Quantum FIOS VMS1100 DVR and hooked up the composite output (Video (Yellow) and Audio (red and white) to the input of Panasonic DVD recorder. Then I have another composite cable from the Panny output to the TV. I can see the picture and have sound on the TV until I try to record. When I try to record to a DVD, the DVD recorder gives me an error message on the TV screen saying it can not record copyrighted material.
However, everything works fine when connected to a VCR. Only the DVD recorder has the issue. The same setup works fine with my Dish Network DVR connected to the Panny DVD recorder. The manual for the VMS1100 says it supports Macrovision copy protection. I know the Panasonic DMR-ES15 also has the Macrovision copy protection technology, so it this the source of my problem?
I have seen previous posts that say this connection possible. Does it still work for anyone?
Thanks
Ron

have you tried using the rgb cable setup, as opposed to your rwy cables? if you have those outputs on fios box and those input jacks on your panny dvr, get a sep audio cable and give it a try....it shouldn't matter what u use btwn the dvr and tv.....i think....lemme know
? good luck

Thanks for the quick response.
Yes, I did try the rgb cable. But the Panny DVD recorder only has composite video and S-Video inputs. So what I tried was to connect the Component outputs (one at a time) to the video in on the DVD recorder. The connection from the Panny to the TV remained the same A/V. There was no real image on the TV screen, just some horizontal lines. I really did not expect it work, but wanted to try anyway.
Thanks for your help.

I have a Panasonic DVD recorder as well. I haven't tried it after the latest software release.
I did read that someone had posted they were no longer able to record after update.
I will check mine when I get home to see if I have the same issue.

I read elsewhere that the recent update has new copyright protection in place which is most likley why it's not working. They probably disabled it.

I am having the same issue.
Can no longer record anything from STB directly.
My TV has a video out option.
Have to hook up the cables and try it that way to see if it makes a difference.

I am also having the same issue - my Quantum box was updated Sunday evening, and last night when I wanted to archive a program I was watching onto DVD the "Recording has stopped. Copyrighted material cannot be copied" prompt appeared on my Panasonic recorder. This apparently is the case for every channel, regardless if you are watching it "live", or if it is a program on the DVR...REALLY annoying. Can anything be done about this?

Nothing really. Verizon doesn't have to offer us the capability to record and save programs.
I too have a DVD recorder. I used it more when I had a small HD DVR and was running low on space,
