HI I just switching from xfinity and had the x1 box. I have quantum TV and 50/25 internet. IMO, the FiOS guide is far inferior to x1 and the ondemand is virtually unusable when compared to the x1 interface. Searching for anything is very time consuming.
Are there any plans in the near feature to upgrade the UI so that it is comparable to the x1 guide? Also, are there any plans to upgrade the mobile apps? I really liked being able to watch all my my programming on the go with xfinity. If there is not, I may consider cancelling my contract before my 30 days are up. Thanks in advance for getting back to me.

These are peer to peer forums so Verizon isnt going to give you a direct response.
The guide on the media servers right now is actually an older version then what the regular multi room dvr's have. Yes there will be updates to it and minor changes here and there, but don't expect it to look anything like xfinity. Verizon has been using the same interface for many years and I doubt they will do a complete overhall of it, at least not for quite some time.
I know they are. Thanks for this. I will probably exercise my 30 day option then.
What are the differences between what the normal DVR has and this one?
Here's a pic of the newer full guide multi room dvr's have. Not to much different. The size and colors are slightly different, but there is an ad banner at the bottom.....which can be disabled where only a Verizon logo is shown.
People on other forums are reporting that the VMS guide is one-generations older than the standard DVRs. That older version on the standard DVRs used to be much slower than the current. Also, some have reported that a recent update speeded things up some, but not to the level of response of the standard DVRs. They have also reported that an update is rumored that should fix some of the performance issues.
It's not even about performance at this point as it is about ads in the guide, on demand being a mess and virtually in searchable, and the Netflix bottlenecking.
Thanks for the replies. Never thought I'd say this but comcasts television product is superior.

Depends where you are. Comcast doesn't come close to FiOS in my neck of the woods. Unreliable, horrible customer service, weak offerings for premium channels and a poor DVR system. You can disable ads and promotions in the FiOS guide btw. It's all there in the settings. Not sure what your issues with On Demand are though. I never have a problem finding anything. You just switched, of course it's going to take you a little while to get accustomed to a new guide and menu structure. If you don't mind me asking, why did you switch in the first place?
I switched because the x1 guide was painfully slow on the satellite boxes and I heard the reliability of FiOS was much better. I recently had my router replaced so we will see if that solves my internet woes but I'm not finding on demand video to be very clear.
I was watching Frozen the other day with my kids and the picture was very, very grainy. It is on demand from Stars. Anyone else have this issue?
Wow. I just switched from xfinity x1 after billing dispute. FiOS forgot to tell me that their service includes a time machine to 2005. The guide is so cluttered and after you filter it will not save the setting. On demand cannot sort by day of week or show all premium movies at once. If you do not know the network and name of.a show you are out of luck. Now I need to do research to watch TV. Also the website is a joke. Many channels do not work on Android. Glad they had a discounted Android tablet offer with sign up. I cannot believe that I miss Comcast. I called Verizon with a list of questions and was told there is no plan to upgrade the cable boxes and confirmed all of the shortcomings. 23 months of great entertainment value ahead.
