Volume on tv

No sound on tv. Volume control on remote doesn’t allow up or down, silent. Happened suddenly while watching tv last night 

 There is a bar at the bottom of the screen with a setting but I don’t hear anything. 

im using basic Fios remote, have a Sony tv, picture clear. 

don’t want preset volume. 

when trying to resolve loud voice comes on saying “volume icon, music volume set to 40 percent”

Sounds like a setting from Sony changed. Look in your audio options in TV under the input you are using for the Fios box and see if it says music instead of surround. Also try the Sony remote to control the volume and see what happens.
