Amazon Channels and Hulu are about to, or have already started, providing features that offer a compelling value proposition that FIOS does not. SINGLE LOGIN, SINGLE INTERFACE, FOR ALL THE CONTENT - delivered in the home or away from the home.
You don't have install an app for every content provider (e.g. HBO, Showtime, Stars, Cinemax, etc.). You don't have to deal with separate logins. One place to go.
Hulu also has a cloud DVR - you don't need to be at home to setup a device to access your recordings before you travel.
Hulu also has commercial free on demand - I would rather pay FIOS $8/mo for that than Hulu.
Bottom line - cost is not the issue here - it is a single integrated experience that 100% device independent - including independence from your STB.
I am staying put for now because FIOS internet is so good but if FIOS TV continues with this 20th century chopped up deliver model I will unbundle and just keep the internet.
