I contacted the Weather Channel regarding their Local on the 8's in HD. They said the technology is now available to provide a Local Weather feed to the HD station. They told me to contact my provider to request it. I have contacted Verizon, spoke with multiple people/departments, and no one seems to understand the problem. Verizon - we have The Weather Channel in HD already. The Local on the 8's feed on the HD station is a nationally generic version. Please upgrade The Weather Channel HD to provide us with a locally accurate Local on the 8's as is already provided on the Standard Definition Station.
There's nothing anyone here can do. It's a peer-to-peer forum.
http://www22.verizon.com/content/ContactUs and email/contact Verizon.
There will be nothing Verizon can do about it either. They only re-broadcast whatever is sent to them by the channel. Verizon does not control any of the programming on the channels. The only weather Verizon does anything with is the widgets weather bug, and even then its only routing it to the internet web page.
Weather on the 8's is controlled by the local Weather Channel affiliate, and whatever they send to Verizon is what you get. I think the weather channel gave you wrong information. I think they were telling you to contact the provider to carry the HD channel. Verizon already does. At that point it is up to the affiliate to transmit the HD signal to Verizon.
And calling or chatting with Verizon on this will do you no good. The front line agents cannot even take those reports. They will listen to you, make a note on your acct that you requested it, and then move on to the next customer.

Sorry to disagree, but all Verizon has to do is install an HD Intelistar (I think that is the WC interface device that does the local insertion) at each VHO and the local insertions will occor on the HD channel. Whether that is worth it to Verizon is another question since their "local" is really regional (like all of VHO8 which is Delaware, PA from southern border to way up the east boundary and quite a bit to the west of Philly, and parts of NJ just get Philly local which can be way different). One of the few things Comca$t did better since they had truly local insertions due to their distribution system.
What Keyboards said is what those at the Weather Channel told me. I would also agree about Comcast. We had Comcast prior to Verizon, although we like Verizon better for the most part, Comcast did better with their Weather Channel local forecasts.
One of my responses from Verizon was to add something to these forums. There has to be someone, somewhere at Verizon who would know who to contact, although I also agree that it would have to be worth the effort to Verizon, which is questionable.
I just look at my weatherbug widget for current and extended weather.

I do too, but not much use in the middle of a storm and you're looking for live updates. Of course then I go to the web and pick from a multitude of options (including The Weather Channel).
Hi, just happend to notice this great dialogue here. This sounds like something that would be great for the idea exchange. Anybody care to leave your weather suggestion(s) on the idea exchange?
Product Management regularly reviews what comes in to the idea exchange.
Thanks!
Done. With a link to this thread.
More accurate and timely local HD weather for each area.
