-Is it because Verizon doesn’t have anymore bandwidth or space for more additions?
-Contract negotiations with the providers?
-Or they just don’t really care or know that’s what we want?
When I started with Verizon, they were adding HD channels regularly and now they seem to have stopped. They took away four premium HD channels and gave us two non premiums? What’s the deal, I think they just don’t care anymore, now that they have a larger customer base. They were the leader in HD and now there are several other providers beating them. I just don't get it!
They are currently at QAM capacity. They removed the two West Coast premium HDs in order to add a couple new HD channels. But they supposedly are in the process of adding some other HDs like Fox Soccer HD, few others.
They are also supposedly working on adding IP capacity to supplement their full QAM capacity.
Ekem, They removed 4 HD west coast premiums, not two. Who said they are working to get Fox Soccer HD? I'm sure they are, but they never said that. Hopefully when they make more room, we will get most of the missing ones everyone wants.
What does Fox Soccer Plus at $14.95 offer? Anyone know? At $15 is can't be SD can it?
Verizon only has it in SD, there is an HD version but........
They charge $15 for a SD versions of a channel? No wonder why people are not happy..
I thought that Verizon FiOS had practically limitless amount of space on their system and fiber optic cable. So why now are they at capacity, and how do they fix it? Are they running more cable or is it a software fix? I had this problem with my old provider, Cablevision. They were also at capacity and they started putting five and six HD channels per QAM and picture quality started going down drastically.
Verizon is not packing the QAMs with HD channels full of compression. So the quality is great. I imagine there will be changes coming soon that will allow more channels. Yes the technology is better, but they still are using QAM that is a mature and reliable technology to run over fiber, with no compression. There has been some discussion on other web sites that IP in combination with the current QAM will allow more content. Verizon is doing Video Over IP now with the VOD. Be patient and I am sure they will expand. The last major expansion was huge.
Have you seen Heather_Wilner's Blogs today. Big things are on the way. Including an HD guide and more options.

There has been much discussion about technology this month and more to come in Q4. Verizon has chosen quality over quantity. I hope to see the channel content stay that way. So I can wait a bit longer for them to do the best thing without sacrificing quality like others have done. Look at the HD numbers here and tell me that the other providers are not compressing the "BLANK" out of everything. I too want more content, but not at the cost of what cable has done.

Remember cable uses part of their bandwidth for Internet. That is why they compress. Verizon FiOS uses a totally different light spectrum for their Internet, and that is why they do not need to compress.
matcarl - the @FiOSTV Twitter has been saying for months that FSC HD is on the top of their list.
OK, thanks Ekem!
