IFC now shows commercials in all it programming and really should not be considered a Premium Movie Channel due to this.
They started adding a small amount unobtrusive commercials between shows a while back but recently they started placing them in the middle of movies and shows.
Verizon should consider moving IFC to another tier.
It does not belong in the same tier as the commercial free Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel,Sundance and Encore.

Totally agree (although it's unlike they'll change that). With all the commercials, I just don't bother watching it any more. In fact, all the current movies from IFC Films...premiere on Showtime! Showtime seems to be the new home for independent films, always shown in OAR, god bless 'em. The IFC channel is dead to me.
That's not Verizon's fault, IFC still charges a premium to Verizon to carry it.
At least one person is now reporting that they received a message that IFC is being removed from the Movie Package. The message mentions check the 2011 packages (primier, extreme, ultimate) to see where it will be included. Not sure if the info on the package has been updated yet but at least for my area it seems to be in all three of the regular packages.
Perhaps someone listened to the OP, or perhaps it just part of some contract negotiation.
Contract negotiating?
Sounds like IFC re-tiering could mean something about MSG HD.
The IFC channel has become a waste anyway. The REAL IFC channel is Showtime. THAT is where all the IFC released films actually premiere.
I doubt this would affect anything with MSG HD. Rainbow has spun off from Cablevision, just like MSG has. They are all different companies now, and negitiate their carriage accordingly.
This doesn't affect the old, rotting FCC complaint about MSG though, since MSG and Cablevision are controlled by the same entities.
