Is this permament? A scroll on channel 28, a public service station, says regular programming will resume, but never does. what is now on this channel was once on another public service channel, so basically it seems Verizon FI OS New York has stopped carrying the NYS Department of Transportation web cams. Why? Those cameras are working, the DOT page shows that. There are still unused Public Service channels available, so why has Verizon chosen to not carry this? It is an useful important tool for New York city residents.

after 2 phone calls from Verizon execs, who couldn't help -- wish i had e-mails to thank them -- finally got email from the city: "this agency forwarded your complaint to our municipal contacts at Verizon and have still not received a response. The City Drive Live street/highway traffic conditions in NYC Channel is provided through the New York City’s Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment. We contacted them on your behalf and they explained of transmission issues that are being worked out and hope to have the system and the channel back in service shortly. All other cable providers have the same temporary feed that you see so this is not particular to Verizon FiOS." So soon, I hope.

You will need to contact the local TV owner. Verizon is only tranmitting what the channel provides. It is probably likely the channel is demised , but Verizon is still recieving a sigal from the TV channel owner.
For example in Westchester the local Elmsford Public Access channel was shutdown a few years ago. It took Verizon months to remove the channel which showed "..blah blah TV video service please insert disc" message.

Someone in the city govt contacted Verizon, and I am to expect a call tomorrow. Not sure why anyone needs to call me, but will keep you apprised.
