There are two methods to program your remote.  Did you try them both.  

One is to Program by the remote Code itself. 

Second is to do the universal program method.

If you tried these, do they at least turn on and off your tv, are certain buttons not working, or do they not work at all?

Remember the Verizon Remotes are garunteed to work every cable box, they are not garunteed to work every tv though.  You might need to buy a third party universal remote, or use one remote to control channels, and another remote to control the tv and volume.
