long delay when switching channels

I have a long delay when switching btwn hd and nonhd channels - like go have a cup of coffee delay.  Just started about 2 weeks ago - prior to that it was a brief hesitation. Fios folks where just here and switched out splitter/router/DVR with no results.  The delay is VERY annoying - and just started 2 weeks ago?  Any idea??

It's likely because the SD override option is set to 480i, 480p, etc. If it's set to off, the STB won't adjust the video resolution when switching between HD/non-HD. Try turning SD override to off in the video options; however, I've found on both a 6xxx and 7xxx box that the SD override will revert to 480i when turning off the box.

could be the old IR issue creeping up.   Is it a 7000 series cable box from motorola?

THANKS!!!  that did the trick!  I turned off the SD Overdrive (I have no idea what that is...) and it stayed off after I turned the TV off and then on.  Thanks Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I'm guessing the default format and SD override settings are determined by the HDMI info from the TV you're using. I just tried the same 7xxx STB with a new 40" Samsung, and it's defaults are 1080i and off. For my Sylvania 720p TV on the same STB, it was 720p and 480i for SD override.
