I have noticed that Verizon listings for WGBH and its family of channels is frequently wrong. This causes me to record programs I did not want. Here is a specific example: Tonight at 10, my tv listing said WGBH was showing "Need to Know", but when I tuned in, it was actually "MI-5".
I saw an earlier post here about incorrect WGBH listings, where someone from Verizon answered that Verizon can't help it because they only list what they are given. So I went to the tvguide website, and they correctly listed "MI-5". I also went to the WGBH website, and they listed "MI-5", but your listing on the tv said "Need to Know", as did your listing on this website. I don't know where you get your information. Your website listing shows the tvguide logo, as though you get the listing there, but in this case, tvguide had it right, WGBH had it right, and you had it wrong.
This problem causes me to record programs from WGBH that I don't want every week, and it has been going on for many weeks.
I've noticed the same problem lately. On all the WGBH channels ( C/W/K/44 ) it's either a generic description or a wrong one. However, the WGBH site always has the correct info. I've also noticed that TITAN TV, which is supposedly sourced from/with/to Verizon listings is also incorrect.
I have similar problems, especially with WGBH 44. I have missed many episodes of favorite shows because the guide is frequently incorrect. For example, my DVR was scheduled to record "Doc Martin" listed at 9pm on Wednesday Oct. 26 on Channel 44 in "Explore!" the WGBH magazine. The FIOS Guide thinks that this show was Channel 44 on Thursday October 25 at 8pm.
Several weeks ago, I watched a show entitled "Ashes to Ashes" according to the Guide, but it turned about to be the British series, "Hustlers."
Currently (Thirsday, October 2710:13pm EST) , the FIOS Guide says I'm watching "Women, War and Peace," but the actual show on is "Independent Lens - Donor Unknown/All About Me" which matches the schedule in the Explore! Magazine.
I don't recall a lot of problems like this with DirecTV.
I'd like to hear from Verizon Customer Support.
Its Jan 2014 and still happening. For one of WGBH's most popular shows - This Old House Hour.
Verizon FioS on-screen and online guide says Sat 1/17 at 5 is old episode, different description.
WGBH webist and tvguide.com say new episode, description that matches show's website, etc.
Anyone know really where the breakdown is? Hard to manage the DVR series/recordings with these inaccuracies.
Checked Verizon guide on their web again today, which is about 3 days before showtime. It's now correct. I'll check set top box tonight.
I did send an e-mail to WGBH asking if they were aware of the issue - no response.
So my current theory is that Verizon doesn't get updates/corrections from PBS as timely as other channels?
Very strange. Its wrong again, both online and on the set top box.
WGBH has been very responsive and are actively looking into this. I sent them a picture of what the listing looked like last night for This Old House and they certainly see and know its wrong.
As far as TOH goes, the Thursday 8PM showing on WGBX is considered the "premier" of an episode - it should be the one Verizon flags as "new". Currently isn't, but I hope WGBH's folks can resolve that too.
