How do I empty the trash e-mails folder without opening every e-mail

How do I empty the trash e-mail folder without having to open each e'mail?

With the e-mail trash folder open, long-press a message until you see a check-mark on the left-hand side of the message.  Repeat for all messages you want to delete, then press the trash can at the top of the screen.  Unfortunately, there isn't a 'delete all' button.

Thanks for you reply, what you said works, but I was hoping to be able to delete all of them at one time.

It took me an hour to delete all of them one at a time.

Seems like the software engineers would have come up with a better way.
