Hi, everyone,
My Ellipsis 10 tablet reboots in the middle of Google Play when I am teaching an exercise class. I tried rebooting daily to see if that prevented the sudden reboot but no luck. My software Update level is IR7_20C63 and the tablet claims this is up to date.
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.
Best,
Susan J.
Having unexpected reboots is inconvenient at best, CrazyOldCatLadyontheHill. You came to the right place for some tips and tricks. Rebooting daily is a great maintenance step and I’m sad to hear that didn’t make any improvements. Let’s gather some more information. When did this start happening? Have you installed any new apps since just before it began? How are other apps working on the tablet?

Hi, GeorgeS,
Thanks for your message. This started about a month to six weeks ago. I use the tablet mainly for music for teaching exercise classes. I also use YouTube for videos and the Internet for Zumba.com. I haven't installed anything new in months.
Also, the tablet is very quirky regarding charging. It seems to take a long time and I have been through several cords.
I also have an Ellipsis 8 Tablet which I use mainly for Kindle, Bridge, and Scrabble.
Any other thoughts?
Again, thanks for your help.
Susan J.
An opton would be to factory default the tablet. There is always the possibility that the tablet is defective. If that is the situation then it would need to be replaced.
Thank you for providing us with this information, CrazyOldCatLadyontheHill. So I can get a better idea of what steps we need to take to correct this issue, what have you tried so far? Also, when charging this device, do you have the charger that this device originally came with?

This device is TRASH I've had the shutdown issue after 6months of buying device. Multiple factory reset and updates. Still no resolution, I've gone by store and talked with support. When will Verizon fix this. I stopped using device because of this. Have tried to start using again but more of the same. Only way to use device ID to stay plugged in all the time. Piece of crap. I've been with Verizon for years. Is it time for a change?
The message board will not allow me to post anything else.
But here is the deal. Not long after I purchased the device, the shutdown
rebooting started. always on battery power about 70% charge. Once i
connected to a power source it would work fine. I've read the boards done
all the update did 2 factory resets and still doing same thing. Took it to
a Version store but since they did give it time to drain down the batter to
about 70-75% to see the reboot issue they said there was nothing they could
do. But it has repeatedly done this. I was using it for work on the road
but the non-dependability of it lead me to put the device down and stop
using it all together, I recently attempted to use it again due to going
out of town and needing to stay in contact with work. and there again
working along and then shutdown reboot at this point when battery was at
80%. I plugged it into a power source and started running but then it
rebooted while connected to power. This has been an ongoing issue with the
device since the beginning of the roll out of this device. Looking back on
the board there has been multiple articles about this issue and NO clear
resolution and fix, I have also noticed that there are no new Eclipses
device on sale thru Verizon which to me shows this known issue.
I would love a replacement, fix or something... MY contract expires I
believe in May for this device, I've looked into a Samsung replacement
(since there was no new eclipses online), but refuse to spend the money on
the payoff $100+,from a device that doesn't work, to get a device that
will work as need. At this point I have spent well over that 100 payoff in
service for a device that doesn't work.
I have been a loyal customer for years..... I would like a resolution....
Thank You

I'm wondering if this is a battery issue.
I used to own an Insignia NS-P08W7100 tablet. After about a year, the tablet would shut down even when the battery was almost fully charged. Ran fine when connected to AC power, but eventually had problems even when connected.
Figured out that the battery was shot and Insignia/Best Buy couldn't do anything for it.
Sadly, I ended up tossing the tablet.
So this is the answer tossing it? This issue started from just a few
months old. Look back of the support threads and you will be this is a
large scale, known issue. And Verizon has offered no Support except:
factory reset, update and now Toss it out.. I would like this escalated to
some type of technical support for this issue.. Or something other then
tossing it.
Question if I toss it, does this mean I wont be responsible to make
anymore payments on the device?

The Insignia is/was a WiFI-only device so tossing it was inevitable.
Short of replacing the unit under warranty, the only other option would be to weigh the cost of early termination of the contract vs holding on....until the contract expires and then terminating the line. I'll defer this suggestion, but another option would be...as suggested...replace the Ellipsis with something else. It may cause the contract's timer to reset, but, I'll defer to those who know for sure.
The Ellipsis is not a high end tablet. Tablets by Samsung, Apple and Microsoft's 2-in-1s are better built and should outlast the Ellipsis.
