All my GIF pictures have downloaded as still JPEGs. I want them to stay GIFs. How do I keep GIF pictures in their original formats?

I was trying to move GIFs from my cell phone to the tablet - to free up space on my phone. But everything transferred to the tablet in JPEG form instead. I tried to take tablet back to the store, but they had me download an additional app on the tablet that would store GIF files I want to save.
