Android email

I updated my software to 4.4.2 on my driod as the notice I received said and now I can't send emails from my phone. Receive is ok. I went to the verizon store and was told that the verizon email in not really that good and I sould use another. I was also told they were having problems with the motorola update and hope to get it fixed soon. I had to delete the verizon acct. and put it back in to get it to stop trying to send the email in my outbox. Deleting the acct. is the only way to clear the outbox he advised. Anybody have the same problem and thoughts what to do? I have to wait to get to my home computer to send or answer an email.
