Blocking Spam

Based on the verizon email site on the blocking email settings page, it says:

You can also block an email address or a domain (the part of an email address after the @ sign).

Since most of my spam is coming from yahoo.com email addresses, I tried just using

yahoo.com

but I still get the spam so obviously, this is not working.

@yahoo.com provides an error message.

I also tried using various words from the subject as filters and this doesn't work either.

I just want this email to be deleted as it comes in as it is trash.  Why does Verizon let you think you can block this when it doesn't work?

Any suggestions?

You leave off the @ sign to block a domain.  e.g

verizon.net

Works fine including for yahoo.com.  Are you perhaps using the yahoo portal that verizon partners with.  Different rules may apply there.

I have the same problem. I also setup a block sender entry, and marked the address as SPAM.  Apparently we are not alone: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/spam-detector-not-working/td-p/441817

I primarily use the free version of www.zoho.com/mail/ to manipulate my Verizon email. I just setup Blacklisted email and domain and they work perfectly with the spam filter. It can send junk to spam folder or trash . Note it you set it up make sure no addresses are on both the blacklist and whitelist. It seems spam will not be blocked if that is the case.

I did do just yahoo.com as if you include the @ you get an error message, however, I still get spam emails when I had thought I had set up in Verizon to block them.

Perhaps I misunderstand how it works and would like clarification, I add yahoo.com to the blocked list and say to delete emails.  I would think then, I would have NO emails from anyone with a yahoo.com address, even in my spam folder because I told it to be blocked.

If that is the way it is  supposed to work, then it is not working.  I put yahoo.com as a blocked address, indicate to delete, and still get these viagra, replica watches, etc. spam in my spam box.

Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

If you have yahoo.com in the blocked senders list (and not anywhere in the safe sender list or filtered to your inbox), but you are still getting messages from yahoo.com addresses, then it is not functioning correctly.

You need to report the issue to Verizon, as something is wrong with your account.

I tested the Blocked Senders list on my account, and it is functioning correctly.

It may be that the "from" in the email is being spoofed in the display information and therefor the actual sending domain is not yahoo.com but something else, typical for spam.  Sometimes checking the actual email header can help you determine what the actual originating domain is.
