Can only send very short plain text to VZ.net accounts

For approximately 2 months now, we have been unable send emails to any Verizon.net user email accounts from our domain. I can't begin to tell you how much time it has taken to get this diagnosed to this level. After numerous calls to support and being told different answers, we still cannot get any help from Verizon. They are the only ISP we have an issue with.

We have worked with our firewall support group to trace the emails leaving. We get no response from the VZ servers, it just times out and waits for a retry. We can send only very short,plain text messages. No HTML, attachments, etc.

I'm hoping someone has seen this behavior before and give us an idea to the problem. It does seem odd the problem began about the time VZ stopped supporting porting to yahoo.com. Without a way to speak to the VZ server folks, this is extremely frustrating.
