Delete vz ... equivalent email address

I continue to use my verizon.net address with AOL. However, I can't mail anything to myself.  The mail daemon@aol.com  gives the following error message.     {edited for privacy}@verizon.net (expanded from myaddress@verizon.net). 

How do I get rid of this email equivalent???
