Spammers started using my email address to send spam to my contacts. After 3 months of dealing with this and changing my password every couple of weeks, I finally decided about two weeks ago to delete my email which was a subaccount. So I logged into our primary email address (my husband's) and deleted my subaccount email address. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? THE SPAMMERS ARE STILL USING MY deleted EMAIL ADDRESS TO SEND SPAM TO MY CONTACTS!!!!! What do I do now? My contacts are getting upset. The spammers send it daily for about 4 days straight, then take a few days off and start it up again. All from a deleted email address!!!??!!!!! What are your security people doing????????????? I am so disgusted with your email service!

There are three ways that your email account could have become compromised...
Holw exactly your account was compromised is hard to tell, especiually remotely.
The first thing to do is CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT PASSWORD ASAP.
The password should be a Strong Password
Scan your computer using your anti virus software (you BETTER have one installed; MSE, Avast, Avira, Eset NOD32, Kaspersky, AVG, etc) as well as Malwarebytes' Anti Malware (aka; MBAM) and another 3rd party "On Demand" scanner (Using my Multi-AV Scanning Tool is one method) and finally learn about Phishing so you will recognize it and won't fall for it.

You are your BEST defense. Don't leave it to others and do NOT blame an ISP. I see compromised email accounts from; Comcast, AOL, HotMail, Yahoo, GMX, EarthLink, RoadRunner, etc, etc., all the time.
You state "...and the spammers still send spam with my email address"
Email impersonation is not uncommon and there is NOTHING you can do about it and anybody can impersonate your email address but only the email headers of the received email will show if the email ACTUALLY came from your account and wasn't a case of impersonation.
You said...
"The spammers send it daily for about 4 days straight, then take a few days off and start it up again. All from a deleted email address!!!??!!!!!"
That sure does sound like impersonation if the email account was "deleted".
