Email/Device Setup Issues

When I setup my Verizon.net email account on a new device, once the account is established, thousands of old emails are downloaded to my inbox. I then have to spend a lot of time deleting them. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Just before you activate VZ email on a new device

Make sure your Inbox in VZ Email does not contain anything you dont want to download to the new device.
