I changed the security settings. Now I can connect to Verizon servers only if I set my modem fire wall to minimum security settings. Previously worked with maximum security settings. This is not good. Please advise about how to correct.

Which Router or modem (or software firewall) are you talking about? Your peers here can probably help you if they have a experience with the same devices/software. I know there most of the FIOS routers have a setting of typical security(medium security) which will allow all the necessary ports. I believe maximum may block 465 (doc only mentions services not ports).
