Email forwarding not working

I have switched to a new email service, but am still using Verizon DSL.  I configured email forwarding through Verizon web mail.  For some reason, only some of the emails get forwarded.  And the emails that are not forwarded are not returned with an error message, so there is no way to tell.  

I can replicate the failed email by sending from an account in the same domain as the new account.  But others outside of this account have also reported that their emails to me failed.  On the other hand, some emails do arrive.  It has been about two weeks.

I tried calling Verizon support, but they didn't even seem to understand what I was asking, and once they did, said there was nothing they could do to help.
