Email freezing

My account completely freezes up everytime I try to delete multiple emails at one time. Never had the problem before. Couldn't even sign off; had to "X" out. Why is this happening.
I'm worried that someone may be hacking into my account and getting info they shouldn't have, or that a virus froze it up. Any ideas?
