Received the email indicating to change the server in and out setting and to verify that this is a valid change to check my verizon ---If you want to verify the validity of this notification and the instructions contained herein, please sign into your MyVerizon.com account and click on “Check Verizon Announcements” under the “I Want to…” menu bar.
There is no verizon notice posted. Is this change request valid?
Solved! Go to Correct Answer
It is more than likely valid...here is the link to the specific Verizon Announcement--url might wrap:
Here is the link to the master Verizon Annoucements page--look for the annoucement on 1/29/13:
http://my.verizon.com/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=vzc_help_announcement
Not sure which email software you might be using but if it's Eudora, see the following link--note there is a typo in the first post ("smpt" should be "smtp") so also take a look at all the posts in the thread:

Hope that helps...

Answered your question on page 2 of the "Eudora & server changes" thread so if you check here first, click on the link to take you to the detailed info in that thread--the link should take you to page 2 of the thread...
I got that same e-mail today and am wondering if I already am recieveing my e-mail correctly using Thunderbird, why would I change my settings?? I see no date that the change is taking place.

You could wait to make the changes until you can't receive/sent mail.
I have received no notice from Verizon about the email server changes and a week and a half ago, I suddenly could not send mail out using Eudora although I could send mail successfully using Thunderbird--I have not had a problem receiving mail via any of my non-verizon email accounts (I don't use my verizon email account at all).
After many hours of research I stumbled across info on the changes to the email servers, changed my Eudora settings and was able to successfully send mail out using Eudora. The day after the problem with Eudora, I could not send mail out using Thunderbird so I made the changes to my Thunderbird settings and then could successfully send mail from Thunderbird.
My sister who lives next door to me who also has FiOS broadband, has continued to be able to receive/send mail using the "old" email server settings.
