Email hacked - cannot delete bogus alias

Someone hacked into my Verizon email, created an alias and is sending emails using that alias. When I try to delete the alias, I get a message that says:
"Sorry, you must have an active Yahoo! Mail account in order to qualify for an extra email address. You can sign up now--it's easy and it's free."
