Font size only changes FIRST LINE of composed EMAIL message, rest is left at 12 pt font...

When composing an EMAIL message, I changed the font size from 12pt Ariel to 16pt Ariel.  I changed it before I had typed anything in the message.

The indicator in the font window said 16pt the entire time I typed the message.

However, only the FIRST LINE of the message was 16 pt..   All the rest was 12pt.

How do I get the ENTIRE MESSAGE to be 16pt???  

I have composed a variety of test messages to solve this problem and have not been able to get it to work.
