Verizon has changed, or is going to change, the mail transport protocol. Unfortunately the POP and SMTP do not work and it took Naitia (sp?), at the India helpcenter, an hour to give up and return to the incoming and outgoing.verizon.net. I was also told that to reconfigure my Motorola smartphone would require another phone call and a cost. Verizon.com would not recognize Mozilla Firefox 19.0.2, the most up-to-date as of 3 April 2013.
it's amazing the stories the india help center tells the customers.firefox is compatible with verizon

Well lets see:
1) The new pop/smtp server names do work, I have been using them for weeks, with several Verizon email addresses. Verizon did have a problem with these email servers a day or two ago for a while, but other than that I have had flawless service using pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net.
2) I am a FiOS user and have never, ever talked to someone at Verizon outside the U.S. Now if you are a Verizon DSL user maybe their support is somewhere else, I don't know, but for FiOS believe I am correct that 100% of the service is provided by U.S.-based people.
3) I do not have a Motorola smartphone, mine is an HTC, but I was able to reconfigure it to work with the pop/smtp servers myself, without any help or cost. I would hope you could too.....
4) I am using Firefox 20.0 to post this response. 20.0 is the most up-to-date version of Firefox. I don't know what your problem with 19.0.2 is, but I had no trouble with 19.0 and I am not having any trouble with 20.0.
I see you just joined the Forums today. I suggest that maybe you take a little time and look around at the various topic areas and recent thread topics, you will find lots of interesting and useful information that might help you if you experience any problems with your Verizon service.
Welcome to the Forums.

The POP and SMTP settings do work.
I've been using Firefox 19.0.1 since March 7 and have no problems accessing Verizon.com.
