Is there a way to download all old messages from a verizon.net account?

Can the messages from the inbox folder of a verizon.net e-mail account be downloaded all at once, without opening each of them separately? We are planning on switching from Verizon Fios to Comcast Xfinity, but I have many years of messages with this address that I don't want to lose. Maybe as one combined, compressed archive?

You could use a mail client like outlook or Thunderbird to download all of your emails to store them.
