Lost message that Verizon claimed was SPAM

I sent out a legitimate message to a distribution list that I had used both before and after successfully, but this email was rejected by the Verizon's email spam filter.  Unfortunately, I deleted the auto reply message, figuring I would try again, but the message wasn't in my Drafts or Sent folder, just totally gone.

Is there anyway to retrieve it?

What could have gone wrong?

Just to clarify are you saying no one on the dist. list got the email correct?
